About English for Work

English for Work is a free program that helps people improve their English language skills to prepare for employment in the United States. Students learn about topics such as skills and strengths, job search, resumes, and interviewing, while practicing speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Classes will only be offered online for the next several months due to COVID-19. We will resume classes at Hopelink centers in Shoreline, Kirkland, Bellevue, and Redmond when it is safer for public health.

Classes are best for intermediate and advanced level students.

About English for Work online classes

  • To register for class, students must first attend an online group orientation. During group orientation, students learn more about English for Work online classes, meet the teachers, and meet other students..
  • After orientation, students have a one-on-one appointment via phone. During the one-on-one appointment, students complete registration paperwork.
  • Online classes are held two times per week for about three months. Each online class is 1.5 hours long. Morning and evening options are available.
  • In addition to attending online classes, students complete about 3 - 5 hours of homework per week.

To enroll in English for Work online, students must:

  • plan to get a job in the U.S. or enroll in job training/college to prepare to get a job (within the next 6 months)
