The Bank of America Charitable Foundation made a generous grant of $25,000 to purchase a truck to support Hopelink Harvest, our gleaning program in north and east King County, in October 2016. Just in time for the spring planting season, we have purchased that truck.
We have purchased a 2014 Ford F-150 with 4-wheel drive, an extended cab, 6.5 foot bed with a liner and canopy that seats six passengers. This truck will be dedicated to Hopelink Harvest which provided over 99,000 pounds of fresh produce through 70 gleaning events at local farms in 2016. Your grant will help us increase the amount of fresh produce distributed at our food banks and partner food banks going forward. This truck will be based at our Sno-Valley Service Center in Carnation for easy access to Snoqualmie Valley farms.
“Having a truck specifically for the Harvest Program will allow us to have a much greater impact in the community. We will be able to respond regardless of weather conditions or how remote the farm. Having this truck stationed in the valley will allow us to react much quicker to any gleans that might come up at the last minute. It’s a total game changer!” - Lindsey Robinson, Harvest Program Coordinator.
