April is National Volunteer Appreciation month, and for Hopelink, that gratitude includes the more than 3,500 volunteers who annually support the work the organization is doing in the community. Hopelink volunteers sort food, stock shelves, tutor English for Work students, glean, rescue and deliver food, and more.
Longtime volunteer Judy Korte did a little bit of everything during her nearly 10 years with Hopelink. Judy worked at the Bellevue food bank, volunteered for the Reaching Out Luncheon and walked in the Hopelink Turkey Trot 5K – and not a summer week went by when she didn’t visit at least one farm to harvest fresh produce for Hopelink food banks.
Judy went out of her way to make a difference in the community, and everyone who knew her would describe her as one of the kindest people they’d ever met. Sadly, Judy passed away in late February, but her spirited presence and her dedication to helping others will live on throughout the Hopelink community.
