Jean Garber – Volunteer for the English for Work program

Jean started as an English for Work adviser in 2017. She has been a consistent and reliable volunteer – even as the English for Work program went online at the beginning of the pandemic. Jean is always eager to learn new resources, information and skills to support the program and students. In 2019, Jean expanded her volunteer role to include helping with the GED and High School Plus programs, learning all about the programs and working as a career advocate for GED/HS+ students. She has continued to grow into her volunteer roles in Hopelink programs and has been a positive support to students.

Here are just a couple of comments students have shared about Jean:

“My adviser gave me a chance to speak about myself and direct me on the right direction. I got a lot of answers for all the questions I had about my job search. She made everything so easy and attainable. I want to thank [her] a lot.”

“My adviser was so supportive to improve myself and guided me to get a job. She helped me to practice for mock interviews.”
